Content note
B-Side You is written for teenagers and up. It’s funny a lot of the time and scary some of the time. Here’s what’s in it, so nothing blindsides you.
Book 1: In The Face of Danger
Comic horror, creature violence, grief, and some drug references.
In a bit more detail
- Comic horror. Creatures out of folklore show up in ordinary places: a school hallway, a basement show, a backyard pool. It’s played for tension and laughs more than gore.
- Creature violence. Fights with the creatures, burns, near-drownings, people getting hurt. Nothing lingered on.
- Grief. Both main characters have just lost a family member, and the books spend real time with that, including family silence and things left unsaid.
- Some drug references. Passing mentions of teenage drinking at parties and a character who is high. Nothing glamorised, nothing graphic.
If you’re having a hard time with any of this in real life, talk to someone you trust.
